2010? Wow! And not a single blog entry or tweet or facespace update! Just some dinking around on TheTulsan.com! Awesome! But not as awesome as the realization that getting back onto the web in a dynamic way is going to take dedication, discipline, and determination. All that prime real estate for editing - primarily just before the work day and in the evening - has been eaten up with child raising, dog training, and any number of compelling television shows. So, we will see what my resolve for 2010 will bring. Hopefully this will be a shiny new look for TheTulsan.com, new features, and a growing readership. The deconstruction is compleat. Let the game begin.

If you want to 'do' Tulsa: do it, THEN write about it! NOT just list a few random notes without any theme and then blab about y'self. Key ingredients in a helpful event blog might be PRO TIPS from TULSANS with insights into parking, when to go, what to expect. So yes I am jealous of the attention of Tulsans, and yes I will call out phoney baloney 'blogs' by someone who is part of the politicommercial complex. KRMG, you still suck, you do not have a clue.

Well, needless to say that was not yours truly given the ol' hat tip, propably the irritated tulsan blog (oh YOU go look it up!). Frankly, TheTulsan.com could reveal the whereabouts of Bin Laden, publish the formula for cold fusion, AND begin picking the winning Lotto numbers for the next year and the local media would STILL refuse to acknowledge TheTulsan.com. We have no earthly idea what we ever said or did that was sooooo bad to be black-balled, but will gladly take the mantle on as Tulsa's Most Dangerous Person. TheTulsan.com has been in idle for a couple of years, really, but is gearing up for the fight once again. What did Ghandi say? So, three weeks after seeing something in the air by Expo Square that did not make sense - which I reported promptly to MUFON - I take this picture of West Tulsa from the St. John's parking garage the day before Thanksgiving. So yesterday when I start going through my pics I zoom in on the KTUL tower and spot these weird objects. Jupiter and Venus? Bald eagles? Balloons? Gas? I dunno. All I can say is that I have never, ever spotted or photographed or thought I saw or photographed any 'UFO' in my life until the past month, and then I have two 'incidents': when it rains, it pours! My buddy Rock thinks 2009 is The Year We Make Contact; I wonder if they are already doing so!

So the Tulsan takes his girl and one of her friends to the Fox & Hound to watch the OU blowout. A few hours later - seven and eight drinks respectively - the lightweight gals are stone-cold sober. The Tulsan calls the mgr over to ask why the double Cape Cods are not working on the one gal and why the eight Long Island Iced Teas have left other lady remarkably clear-headed. Mumble mumble bullcrap in response. Oh well, there was a tab with his card so they paid up, but thought that you all needed to know.

Do I want a 'safe haven' for homeless mentally ill in my neighborhood? No. Would I beat my head against the wall if Federal law allowed it? No. Would I ever deign to live in White City, with its troubled schools, proximity to ungentrified MLK Expressway corridor neighborhoods and traffic? Noooooo. But the folks in White City see the project as one more nail in their hood's livability, and I cannot really blame them. I would recommend to the WC folk that they develop some outreach to the residents so that homeowners/renters nearby can identify creepy pedestrians as walk-throughs or someone that MHAT can work with on their behavior. Drive by the downtown YMCA - see those disturbing people loitering out front? Those are the folk who are destined for the 'safe haven.' This development follows the announcement that Crossroads Clubhouse is moving to 21st/Harvard, a few blocks down from former Doctors Hospital (which is now Tulsa County's emergency psychiatric facility.) If the economic impact to the Tulsa 'area' is reaaaaallly $18M - and the only thing keeping this event from happening is $3M - why does it not make sense for Vision 2025 funds and support it as a county? There must be something else to the equation that is being left out. What do you think it is?

What better way to start off TheTulsanBlog than by dumping on some nice folks? I cannot think of any, so here is my fart in the elevator: Dia De los Muertos as conceived by LivingArts.org is as close to authentico as soul food at KFC. While the altars were obviously created with love and adoration for the departed, the event itself boiled down to another self-serving reason to exploit an aboriginal culture and to party down. The most prominent Latinos were serving food, with one heart-breaking exception: a Hispanic woman sitting by the taco trailer breastfeeding her blanket-covered baby; the band played a Santana cover while beer-cup holding hipsters shuffled by her blank stare and silent to-and-fro. La cultura es muerto.
